Redheads and Royalty

The 16th Century Elizabethan era saw a various number of different hairstyles, many of them modelled by Queen Elizabeth I herself. There are several key components to creating an Elizabethan hairstyle ...

1. The hairline should be set back quite a significant distance in order to present the idea of great intelligence.

2. The ideal hair colour would be some form of red (for example 'strawberry blonde' or deep red/ginger)

3. The most favoured components for an elizabethan style were plaits and/or buns.

4. Many of the Elizabethans liked to accessorise their hairstyles, this consisted of ribbon entwined in the style, lace, pearls and jewels.
