1. Brush out all the hair to remove knots and tangles.
2. Taking the section of hair you wish to plait and divide that section of hair into three equal sections.
3. The 3 sections of hair should appear to be split left, middle, right.
4. Take the right section of hair and cross it over the middle section so that they have now swapped places.
5. Next take the section of hair on the left and cross it over the section in the middle so that they have now too swapped places.
6. You then continue to cross over the sections of hair on the right and then the left alternately.
7. Repeat this process all the way down the hair until you have run out of hair to plait or indeed if you reach the desired length for your plait
8. Secure the hair with a hairband.

In this scene one of Elizabeths closest friends in leaning in to talk to her and we can see that her hair has been put into a bun and there is then a plait going around the bun. From this we can see how this technique was applied in the Elizabethan era.
