Creating a Tight Curl

1.   Take some curlers and place them on to a temperature dependent on the hair type (if hair is dry or split try to use a lower temperature).

2.   Using a sectioning comb take a small portion of hair and wrap the end around the barrel and secure it with the clamp, then roll the rest of the section around the whole barrel (it is easier to start with a layer of hair at the bottom and work up to the top section of the hair).

3.   Hold in the curler for as long as required (if hair is thin around 5 secs, if hair or section is quite thick between 10-12 secs).

4.   Open the clamp and loosen the hair from the curler, gently sliding the curler out from the hair while securing the curl with your fingers.

5.   Take a kirby grip and secure the curl (leaving it too cool down).

6.   Repeat steps 2,3&4 for all the hair you wish to curl (you can alternate the direction you wrap the hair round the curlers to change the direction of the curl and give the hair dimension)

7.   Once you have completed curling the whole section begin removing the kirby grips from the bottom upwards in the direction you worked in.

8.   You can then leave the curls tight as they are, split the curls to loosen them and create more volume or comb them through to create a large volume of curls over the head.
